GOODBYE PARADISE PIER HELLO PIXAR

DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE - PIXAR PIER

This is one of my favorite photos I have overlooking Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure. The Pier was a great place to hang out with friends, take amazing photos, have a "Mickey's Fun Wheel" and lobster nachos at the Cove Bar, closing out the park with World of Colors and just have an overall great time. It will always hold a special place in my heart. But I have always been a huge supporter of change.

Walt Disney once said (in response to criticism about Disneyland not 100 percent ready on Opening Day): “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world. It is something that will never be finished. Something that I can keep developing and adding to.”

It would set the tone for the next 63 years. And Walt's quote would also holds true for Paradise Pier and Disney California Adventure. I have to admit, Michael Eisner's vision for DCA was lackluster and never really had Walt's magic that Disneyland has. We have seen many great improvements already for DCA over the last few years and I'm excited to see the many to come.

If you don't know already, Paradise Pier will be transforming into Pixar Pier. Pixar Pier will have four themed neighborhood, starting with The Incredibles. The Incredicoaster will remain essentially the same as California Screamin' but will have new scenes and special effects. Its opening will be timed to the June 2018 release of “The Incredibles 2” movie.

The Toy Story neighborhood will be centered around Toy Story Mania, the popular ride/video game tucked beneath the roller coaster. The Inside Out neighborhood is just across from Toy Story Mania and will feature a new attraction based on the movie about the competing emotions of a pre-teen girl.

It might be sad to see Paradise Pier going away but think of it like this. It's not truly going away, its the rebirth of something entirely new (THINK TOWER OF TERROR). Places may change but memories do not. And that's what we all have to focus on. With the creative minds of Disney and Pixar together, the possibilities of what they'll create is going to be exciting to see when finished. Summer can't come soon enough.

"TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!"
